The NCAA Baseball Committee announced the regional seedings for the NCAA Tournament on May 26. Each year, 64 teams move onto the regional rounds, which are hosted by the top 16 seeds in the tournament. Vanderbilt earned the No. 1 overall seed to extend its NCAA postseason streak to 19 in a row.
As a top-16 national seed, Vanderbilt will host its NCAA Regional in Nashville, Tennessee, welcoming Louisville, East Tennessee State and Wright State to Hawkins Field. This is the third time in the past five years that the Commodores have hosted an NCAA Regional.
Vanderbilt has played its best baseball recently, winning its last three SEC series while adding an SEC Tournament title to the resume. The season may have started sluggish — as the Commodores went 7-7 to begin league play — but the team has gone 15-4 in the SEC since that point. The Commodores now sit atop multiple analytical rankings, including the RPI and KPI, where they hold the No. 1 spot.
With Monday’s selection, Vanderbilt will appear in its 19th straight NCAA postseason, the longest active streak in the NCAA, and seek to win its first NCAA Regional since 2021. Head coach Tim Corbin will look to win his third National Championship this year.
Vanderbilt begins its NCAA Tournament on May 30 against Wright State.
